About Us
Our members are mostly from aboard. Our aim is to generate a homely atmosphere. We are keen and young, and always ready to thrive. Every year the club organise many events. Chinese debate, Spring Festival, Autumn Moon Festival and National Day celebrations are all fix events in our calendar. We are constantly adding exciting events like fishing, skiing and inter university debating.

History
Club of Chinese Students at Monash (CCSM) or “蒙纳士中国学生会” has a history of nearly 10 years. It was originally founded by a group of “Original Oversea Students”. These students are mainly Chinese born students that have come to Australia in the late 1980s and early 1990s. These students were mainly PhDs, or visiting scholars, with an average age of nearly 30. Since then, the club has been grown rapidly in size, in particular in the past years. Today our membership numbers stand at around 1300. To the best of our knowledge, this makes us the biggest University Chinese club in Victoria.
In those 10 year, CCSM as a club has achieve numerous achievements. Here is a sample of our recent achievements:
2008 - Australia National University Chinese Debate Final Champion
2005 – Melbourne University vs. Monash University Chinese Debate – Final Champion
2004 - 国庆运动会 七所高校联合举办 Monash 主办 – Final Champion
Future strategic vision
The Club has enjoyed unprecedented growth starting in 2002. This is the year of the “New Oversea students”. Majority of these students are undergraduates, age from 18-23. This group of students currently out number postgraduates in the membership base 100 to 1. Due to this, CCSM was able to develop a new strategic vision of focusing on the undergraduate oversea Chinese students at Monash. Part of this strategy is:
- Development of the “Monash Chinese Student Club” (MCSC) brand, under the organization of CCSM (see graphic)
- Re-engineering of club’s image as being “Active, Creative and Fun”
- Redevelopment of the CCSM website (http://chinese.monashclubs.org) to reflect the above
- Focusing on activities that will attract the age group 18-23
