Radio Monash Position
Dear students,
Thank you for your response to our advertisement for Radio Monash Chinese Language Broadcasting Service position. I also thank Monash Chinese Student Club for their help and support. I have received more than expected enthusiastic responses within such a short period of time. The responses have strongly suggested that we have so many talent students from China and that Chinese language and culture have a strong presentation at Monash.
Unfortunately, due to limited resources, we can only recruit one or two radio presenter(s) at the moment. And I am sorry to say that the advertisement is closed. We will soon send email notification to those who’s applications have been accepted and an interview will be organised tomorrow afternoon for short-listed applicants.
However, I am glad to tell all applicants that we welcome our students to organise your own radio broadcasting team and participate in Radio Monash Chinese Language Service Program. The Monash Chinese Studies Program is happy to arrange one or two hours every week for our students to organise their own radio program (under our supervision).
As some of you may have already known, last year was the United Nations’ International Year of Languages. The UN called on the nations in the world to take the opportunity to promote multilingualism. Australia is among the first nations in the world which has promote multiculturalism and multilingualism since the 1970s. After Kevin Rudd became the Prime Minister of Australia, the federal government has spent billions of dollars to promote Asian languages. Chinese is among four top priority Asian languages. As Chinese speakers we should be very proud of our mother tongue and should work hard to maintain and improve our Chinese, for the future of our motherland and our own career. Globalisation needs bi- or multilingual speakers. Globalisation need high level Chinese speakers.
For this reason, Monash Chinese Studies Program has developed a number of high level Chinese teaching units(major in Chinese Translation, Chinese 9-12, Professional Chinese Language Internship), designed specifically for background students. As Australia’s largest and best Chinese Studies Program, the Monash Chinese Studies Program is very active in providing new and innovative Chinese teaching units. Our Chinese Incountry Program is so far the world largest. We welcome Chinese background students to join us and continue to improve our Chinese while studying in Australia.
Best wishes with your study。
