James Kett, enrolled in Chinese 7, second-prize winner of the Chinese government-sponsored Chinese Bridge Speaking Competition (2008), will perform two popular Chinese hits.

12:45 pm

Reflections on the topic “Tomorrow will be a better day” 《明天会更好》

Lu BAI, Shen LIU, Han XIAO, Sushen ZHENG will speak to the topic. They are members of the Monash Chinese debating team (Nanfeng –Southern Wind). The team recently won the Australian Inter-Varsity Chinese language debating competition.

Calligraphy demonstration

To be presented by Momo 沫沫, a winner of calligraphy and Chinese art awards, in the regular script (zhengkai) style.

1:40 pm

Clapper talk 快板

Kristian Rodd, enrolled in Chinese 7, first-prize winner of the Chinese Bridge Speaking Competition (2008) will perform this ancient Chinese art.

2:00 pm

Traditional Chinese music

David O’ Loughlin, enrolled in Chinese 11, was first-prize winner of the Chinese Bridge Speaking Competition (2007). He will perform a piece for the Chinese flute.

Vocal music performance

A presentation from “Pav” who was named best performer and second prize winner of the 2006 Springtime Melbourne music festival.

“Because of Love” 《爱因为在》

Lok Tang, who won an award for “best new talent” in a local Chinese music competition, will perform this piece.

There will be two donation boxes, one on either side of the stage.

These donation boxes were authorized by the Consulate-General of the People Republic of China in Melbourne. Donations collected will be handed over to China’s Consulate-General. We have been informed that the money will be used to rebuild schools in Sichuan province.
